Day 4 Underway!

Well things have settled down a bit so we decided to give everyone a quick update. Dr. Ross left Brandon, Mississippi at 3:30 a.m. eastern time determined to reach Texas by day’s end. The first 3 or 4 hours were much of the same…hills and more hills. We were busy in the support vehicle doing all we could to find an alternate route and keeping Dr. Ross hydrated with Gatorade at frequent intervals. We finally made it to Flat Land! I am certain that Dr. Ross has never been more happy to see the sign, “Welcome to Louisiana!” The temperature is a pleasant 72 degrees but we are expecting rain throughout the day and winds out of the west. As of 9:47 am eastern time there are 110 more miles in the books! Time to get busy on the logistics of the day. Thanks again for following Dr. Ross on his #RossAcrossAmerica Journey in support of the Boys & Girls Club.

Go, go, go Dennis!!! Hopefully the “winds from the west” are a little calmer when they reach you than they are out here in THE WEST (Oregon). We lost power several times this weekend.

An excerpt from our weekend weather report of the wettest September on record for many areas in Oregon – “In addition to the rain, gusty winds produced numerous broken tree branches, downed power lines, and traffic control lights throughout the downtown Portland area on Saturday night. Late Sunday, we saw more reports of tree damage and power outages with the final strong storm moving inland. Sustained winds of 50 to 60 mph were reported throughout the region, and 70 to 80 mph gusts were observed along the coasts and in the mountains of Oregon and Washington.”

So as I said….I hope the “westerly” winds calm down before they meet you in Texas!!! So impressed by your motivation, willpower, and drive..

Know that we are praying for your safety and success each day of your journey!
