Day 5 Wrap Up
This will be quick because the support crew dropped to one person around 1:00 yesterday. Stephen will be flying in to add support later this afternoon. Road surface conditions continued to be poor throughout the day. Dr. Ross discovered that the GPS on his bike was not working so we are no longer able to give exact mileage. We think the GPS was damaged during the massive rain storm that he peddled through the night before. The tracker for the website has also been out of service due to issues with the power supply in the vehicle (Ipad died) but that seems to be working now. Dr. Ross found himself in the Texas heat on Day 5 and all of us were introduced to some Texas fire ants during a quick roadside break. Even the fire ants are bigger in Texas (and they pack a bigger punch too). Well, they didn’t seem to bother Dr. Ross; he just wanted a new pair of shoes and socks AND his bike! Dr. Ross peddled his way into Anson, Texas where he finally stopped for rest around Midnight. Incredible!
Day 6 is underway as of about 3:30 am. Thank you for all of the messages of support and your many prayers. We will give an update as time allows.
